TROUBLE SHOOTING BROKEN TARGETS
BROKEN
OR CRACKED TARGETS BEFORE TARGET GETS TO LIFT PLATE:
1)
Check
magazine for broken targets. If you have broken targets in magazine the
following applies.
A)
Targets
have not been handled correctly from storage shed to placing them into the
magazine. Make sure you transport the target boxes right side up, in a flat
position, not on their side.
B)
Targets
are getting broken when loading magazine. Do not ruff handle the targets. Load
magazine carefully.
C)
Broken
pieces under magazine or broken pieces hung up in clamp roller assembly. Clean
out all broken pieces and inspect remaining targets.
D)
Maybe,
bad targets. Call supplier for support.
2)
Check
clamp roller assembly for correct set up.
A)
Check
rubber target rollers to make sure you can turn each one. Each rubber roller has
a bearing in the center for smooth rotation of target handling.
B)
Check
splitter washers for correct height on target. The splitter washers can be
adjusted to the height of any target made. The clamp roller bar is threaded, so
loosen nut on top of each roller bolt and adjust up or down to obtain your
target height.
C)
Make sure
clamp roller assembly is not froze up. If the bushing is tight or not movable,
then take bushing apart to clean & service.
D)
Make sure
the third rubber roller with stainless steel ramp is adjusted correctly. If
stainless steel runway is turned in, it can break targets. Adjust target runway
ramp to just miss the outside of magazine tubes.
E)
Check to
see or hear if targets are being cracked as they pass thru the clamp roller
assembly. If they are, adjust the head of the stop bolt on assembly. It can be
adjusted for any targets.
TARGET IS BREAKING WHEN THROWN.
1)
Check the
rubber-throwing rail. Look the end of rail over very closely to see if there is
damage to rail. The throwing rail is designed so you can take off and turn over
for new rubber area on target. NEVER USE AN AFTER MARKET THROWING RAIL. The
composite material and shore hardness in our throwing rails are the most to be
desired.
2)
Clean
throwing plate and lift plate. DO NOT LET TARGET MATERAIL BUILDUP ON PLATES
BREAK YOUR TARGETS.
3)
Check
rubber target stops that are screwed to lift plate. If missing or worn, then
replace them.
4)
Make sure
target gets to home position. Home position being flat on lift plate and against
rubber target stops. If target is not flat on lift plate, adjust angle aluminum
piece or adjust magazine timing to correct problem. (See adjusting magazine
timing)
5)
Check out
rubber flap (hanging from top plate) so it slightly touches dome of target to
assure target will be in home position.
6)
The lift
plate to throw plate transition is very important to be smooth or level from
lift plate to throw plate. If needed, you can adjust the end of the lift plate
height by adjusting the cushion spindle bolt that the lift plate comes down on. ALWAYS
HAVE A LEVEL TRANSITION POINT.
ADJUSTING
THE MAGAZINE TIMING OR WHEN THE TARGET GETS DELIVERED TO LIFT PLATE.
1)
The magazine timing can be adjusted by length of the linkage rod to index
assembly. The linkage rod you want to adjust is located at the top of the big Z
lever located at rear of machine on the left hand side. This linkage rod is
parallel to top plate and is connected to indexing assembly under the top plate.
To advance magazine, rod linkage needs to be shorter. To retard magazine, rod
linkage needs to be longer. If you are trying to lean your machine over to the
left or right, adjusting the magazine timing may be helpful in obtaining the
correct target feed on to lift plate. Example: If target is dropping onto lift
plate before lift plate is all the way up, retard magazine. If target is
dropping after lift plate has been all the way up, advance magazine.
MAINTENANCE
OR SERVICING MACHINE.
1)
Oil the
hinge on the machine. The front hinge assembly has a hole in the middle for
lubricates. Service this as needed. Any oil is better than none.
2)
There is
one grease fitting to service on your machine. On the left side there is pivot
linkage lever (twiddley bit) that has a grease fitting. Service this as needed.
Any grease is better than none.
3)
Service
magazine.
A)
Remove magazine, clean and grease magazine shaft.
B) Clean
delrin spring cap and grease the underside spring seat. You want grease on the
topside of spring touching delrin cap. DO
NOT GREASE BETWEEN TOP SPRING AND MAGAZINE RING.
4) Inspect delrin spring
bobbin. Service spring bobbin with oil. Any oil is better than none.
5) Make sure your main
spring hand knob is tight. A loose main spring can damage your machine. KEEP
MAIN SPRING HAND KNOB TIGHT.
6) Inspect control box for
proper electrical connections. Check battery lead ring terminals for good clean
connections.
7)
Keep all aluminum or stainless plates clean of target material buildup.
8)
Inspect all rubber components. Replace as needed.
9)
It is advised to cover or protect machine when possible.
