P. Traps L. L. C.
Start-up
information:
All
G. P. machines are test fired with White Flyer targets from
Webb City, Mo.
1)
Uncrate and inspect machine for any shipping damage.
Be sure all cable ties and packing materials are removed, so
machine will operate correctly.
2)
Bolt on front hoop. DO NOT operate machine without
front hoop in place.
3)
When mounting machine in a trap house, be sure your
pedestal is strong enough to support machine. Base plate
needs to be bolted down securely to existing pedestal or
floor. Make sure existing pedestal or floor is level and
existing studs are securely attached. A loose base plate
causes unnecessary vibration and target consistency is
affected. Check base plate bolts frequently for tightness.
Make sure that the magazine does not touch the trap house
roof. You need approximately 54 inches clearance from top of
the pedestal to the trap roof. (See spec. sheet.) If
mounting on trailer make sure trap machine is securely
bolted down and movement is not restricted.
4)
12v. Trap Motor: Red
positive lead cable to +
positive on battery terminal. Black lead to –
negative on battery terminal. REVERSE POLARITY CAN DAMAGE
MACHINE. You should disconnect battery leads when not in
use. All motors used by G. P. Traps are D.C. motors.
5)
Always operate 12-volt machine with fully charged
battery. LOW VOLTS MAKE HIGH AMPS AND CAN DAMAGE MOTOR OR
CONTROL BOX.
6)
Excessive moisture or floodwaters can damage
motor/gearbox assembly and void warranty.
Operation
Procedures:
7)
After machine is safely installed, connect leads from
white control box to 12-volt battery.
8)
Release cord or remote receiver furnished by G. P.
Traps unless ordered differently. Connect release cord or
remote receiver with release socket located on cord out of
white control box. See Release/Control Circuit diagram.
9)
Toggle switch on white control box turns machine on
and off. When turning machine off or to release throwing
arm, set toggle switch down to off position and depress
black release button on control box to clear throwing arm.
Throwing arm will release and last target will be thrown.
BEWARE OF LAST TARGET THROWN. (See figure 1.)
10)
To adjust target distance: At the rear of the machine is a
spring knob connected to the main spring. Loosen the
retaining nut on the inside of bracket. Tighten knob to
lengthen target distance. Loosen knob to shorten target
distance. Make sure nut on inside of bracket is tightened.
ALWAYS make sure spring knob is tight. There needs to be 3
to 4 threads sticking through adjustment knob to assure
spring has no slack during use. A loose main spring causes
unnecessary vibration.
If main spring adjustment becomes loose and falls
off, your machine could be damaged. Black mainspring is
standard on all models.
11)
To adjust target height: On the right side, towards the
front of the machine there is a T-handle knob for target
height adjusting. To adjust, set toggle switch to off
position and depress black release button on control box to
clear throwing arm. Then adjust elevation strap to desired
height and retighten. ALWAYS make sure T-handle knob is
tight. Set toggle switch to on position to turn machine back
on. Do not try to adjust target height unless machine is off
and throwing arm is released. Machine will adjust from -5°
to 50°.
12)
When filling magazine with targets or to adjust machine be
sure machine is off and throwing arm is released.
13)
When servicing machine or control box, make sure throwing
arm is released and 12-volt leads to battery are
disconnected.
14)
Post all literature informing personnel about trap machine
operation before servicing or loading targets.
15)
Please call before you make any major adjustments.
16)
Stay away from throwing arm!
17)
THINK SAFETY FIRST!
18)
Call for optional trailer and remote control release.

ADJUSTMENTS
BEFORE
ATTEMPTING TO MAKE THE FOLLOWING ADJUSTMENTS BE SURE THAT
THROWING ARM IS RELEASED!
Toggle
switch on white control box turns machine on and off. When
turning machine off or to release throwing arm, set toggle
switch down to off position and depress black release button
on control box to clear throwing arm. Throwing arm will
release and last target will be thrown.
BEWARE
OF LAST TARGET THROWN!
1)
Rubber pinch roller with splitter washer:
Washer
or splitter washer needs to be making contact between first
and second targets. Don't worry about targets being at
different angles in stack. Gravity and weight will make
stack of targets lower in front then in back. Adjust
splitter washer using 3/4 to full stack of targets at
desired target height.
2)
Spring bolt tension adjustment:
(A)
Spring needs enough tension to hold stack up. Adjust
bolt (through spring) to change the amount of tension.
(B) Top collar adjustment determines when
the splitter washer and rubber support will come in contact
with targets.
3)
Gate opening:
Aluminum
cam determines when gates open and close. Adjusting
clockwise retards gates. Counterclockwise will open gates
sooner.
4)
Arm timing:
(A)
When machine is on and throwing arm is in the cocked
position, there should be approximately 1 3/4" between
end of throwing arm and upright top plate bracket.
If arm is coming in too much target will drop on arm
rubber. If arm is too far away, target will stay out on
stainless outrigger.
(B)
Move the black collar located on top of sprag
unit to make this adjustment. The tab on the black collar
makes contact with limit switch located on top of body.
Adjusting black collar clockwise makes throwing arm close to
the upright top plate bracket. Adjusting the black collar
counterclockwise makes the throwing arm farther away from
the upright top plate bracket.
5)
Adjusting from standard target to Battue:
Loosen
nut on top of black support bar and adjust height of
splitter washer so washer is making contact between first
and second targets. Black support bar is threaded so the
bolt through rubber support and splitter washer can be
easily adjusted to the proper height.
Remember, target capacity is 70 targets.
